Dry carpet cleaning uses a selection of conditioners and pre-treatment solutions to mix into the fabric and fibres over short periods of time and was used prior to the use of a dry-cleaning machine. The carpet will be sprayed with the solution in order to dissolve the dirt and soils which are previously impossible to vacuum. The chemical solution placed in the carpet should not be left for longer than 15 minutes as this is commonly the amount of time the pre-treatment works its way through the carpet for a thorough clean.
